KANNON ONSEN -Facilities & Hot Spring Reports(2)-
The inn has three spring locations on the premises, pumping out more than 500 liters of hot water per minute. Because there is such an abundant spring flow, as a matter of course, almost all bathing facilities offer 100% spring water with no added water (for sanitary reasons, the American Spa in the main "Galatea" bathhouse uses both free-flowing spring water and circulating spring water). It is amazing that not only the bathing facilities, but even the water used for cooking is 100% hot spring water. Currently, only the "Kannon Principle" uses the new third source, while the others use the first source. The second source is currently not in use (at the time of the July 2011 interview). |
"Kannon Onsen" is a inn name, but recently it has been attracting so much attention that it is recognized as a place name. All three private hot springs are "alkaline simple hot springs" with a pH of 9.5 to 9.6. The water is clear and colorless, but very unique. Moreover, the water is ultra soft, with a hardness of less than 1. |
When you bathe in the hot water, it feels like a thin veil that envelops your body. The water feels so soft that you want to stay in it forever, and the hot spring water slowly permeates your skin. It is a hot spring full of charm that cannot be fully described in words. The gentle and mild nature of the hot spring is good for babies and people with sensitive skin. The pipes that pump up the hot water at the inn are said to remain clean even after 40 years. Such is the gentle and pure nature of this hot spring. |
The first characteristic of "alkaline simple hot spring" is its "skin beautifying effects". By producing sodium fatty acid, it blisters the oil and dead skin layer on the surface of the skin, just like soap, making it easier to remove. This gives the skin a slippery smooth feel when soaking in hot water. It is also rich in metasilicic acid, a natural moisturizing ingredient. A value exceeding 50 mg qualifies as a "hot spring," and "Kannon Onsen" contains 132-149 mg/kg, slightly less than three times the regulation level. Thus, just by looking at the data in the spring quality table, it can be seen that the hot spring is "alkaline" plus "metasilicic acid," making it a "hot spring for beauty" with a strong effect on beautiful skin. |
The hot spring water at this inn is also drinkable. In the center of the "Galatea" bathtub is a flower-shaped spring water outlet with a cup for drinking. The mineral components (silicon, etc.) contained in the spring water are said to be effective in improving health. |
Many people say that their diabetes has improved and that their atopic dermatitis has improved. Originally, human blood is supposed to be mildly alkaline, but today's busy people tend to be more acidic due to their unbalanced eating habits. Drinking this hot spring water has the effect of balancing the entire body. |
President Kazue Suzuki told us that there is a person who is a repeat guest at the inn. The person who became seriously ill as a child began drinking "Kannon Onsen" when he was 10 years old, and he grew up fine and continues to stay at the inn frequently. Another person who holds a key position in a large company suffered from internal organ and heart diseases in his 40s, but overcame his illness after frequent visits to the "Kannon Onsen" to recuperate. He is now in his late 80s and is still active. President Suzuki spoke happily. The Hotel New Otani (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), one of Japan's most famous and long-established hotels, has also been using hot spring water from the "Kannon Onsen". The hotel's French restaurant "Tour d'Argent" and the international restaurant "Gunship" use the hot spring water for cooking. |
PET bottles filled with the spring water can be purchased at the inn's store or from vending machines. In Tokyo, it is sold at Isetan, Mitsukoshi, Matsuzakaya, and other famous department stores and natural food stores, and has recently become a common sight in hanging advertisements on trains in Tokyo. It has also been featured in many women's magazines, attracting the attention of beauty-conscious women in particular. In fact, many actresses and celebrities who are active on TV and in movies are also avid drinkers. Some even call it a "drinking power spot," and its sales seem to be rising steadily in proportion to its increasing popularity year by year. |
