HAKONE GINYU -Guest Room Reports(1)-
"Hakone Ginyu" has 20 guest rooms. Of special note is the location and the open-air bath in all rooms, which offer a rich view of the mountains. Due to the structure built on the slope of a cliff, the front desk is on the 5th floor, and guest rooms are on the 4th to 1st floors. There are four guest room types: "Kaze" (4F), "Hoshi" (3F, some 4F), "Sora" (2F), and "Tsuki" (1F). The type "Kaze" has only one room, the "Keifu" (Japanese-style room). The type "Hoshi" has a total of seven rooms. Five of them, "Yusei", "Kiraboshi", "Seiya", "Seiun", and "Hokuto", are Japanese-style rooms. The "Ginga" room is a Western-style room and wheelchair-accessible. "Seishuku" is the only maisonette (3F & 4F) at the inn. There are a total of six "Sora" type rooms. Five of them, "Saiun", "Keiun", "Zuigumo", "Shigumo", and "Yueigiri" are Japanese-style rooms. "Yugiri" is a Western-style room. The type "Tsuki" also has a total of six rooms. Five of them, "Katsura", "Yugetsu", "Meigetsu", "Nanayo", and "Fuga", are Japanese-style rooms. The "Fumiko" is a Western-style room. As can be seen, there is a wide variety of room types, all of which create a unique atmosphere with a resort flavor that transcends the boundaries of an onsen ryokan. The room grades are "Tsuki", "Kaze", "Hoshi", and "Sora", in that order, but the fact that single guests are welcome in any of the room types should not be overlooked. Let us start with the highest grade "Tsuki Type". This type is located on the lowest floor (1F) of the inn. As mentioned above, the structure is built on a slope, and the open terrace where the open-air bath is located is spacious, as well as a part of the private garden. This may be the room type often featured in magazines. "Meigetsu" is one of the "Tsuki Type" Japanese-style rooms. The room is a combination of a dining room with a sunken kotatsu and a cozy Japanese-style room with tatami mats. The Asian-style furnishings add to the resort atmosphere. The layout is as follows: Entrance + Japanese-style room (10 tatami mats) + Dining room with sunken kotatsu + Cupboard space + Wash room + T + Indoor bath + Terrace (open-air bath in guest room + living room). Exclusive area is 98 square meters. Capacity of 1 to 4 persons. Rooms of the same type are available at "Katsura", "Yugetsu", "Nanayo", and "Fuga". |

The same type room "Nanayo". This one, as you can see, is also a gorgeous structure. You will likely spend more time than you think on the open terrace with an open-air bath. The layout is as follows: Entrance + Japanese-style room (10 tatami mats) + Dining room with a sunken kotatsu + Cupboard space + Wash room + T + Indoor bath + Terrace (open-air bath in guest room + living room). Exclusive area is 99 square meters. Capacity of 1 to 4 persons. Rooms of the same type are available at "Katsura", "Yugetsu", "Meigetsu", and "Fuga". |

The only Western-style room in the "Tsuki Type", "Fumiko" (Type H), is so luxurious that it is called a "Ginyu Suite". Perhaps because of its queen-size double bed, it is often used by honeymooners. The layout is as follows: Entrance + Bedroom + Dining room + Cupboard space + Washroom + T + Indoor bath + Terrace (guest room open-air bath + living room). Exclusive area is 80 square meters. Capacity of 1-3 persons. |
