Made by a local sake brewer with 100% Japanese Yamada Nishiki (one of rice varieties), “Lake Flower (Umi-no-Hana)" is the most popular souvenir among alcoholic beverages. It can be ordered at dinner. It is a junmai ginjo (type of sake with 60% or less rice remaining and no distilled alcohol added) sake with a rice polishing ratio of 60%. |

"Hira perilla" is a juice made by a local manufacturer. It is rare to find a drink made from red shiso. The manufacturer, Hira Satoyama Club, is an organization in Shiga Prefecture that works to preserve satoyama landscape. It is diluted three times and drunk, and is also recommended for mixing with soda, milk, or for use in sweets. It is sometimes served at breakfast. |
