RYOKAN TANIGAWA -Article(2)-

In this hot spring area, there is a luxury ryokan called "Bettei Senjuan".
The inn, which is now recognized by many as a dream inn with an open-air bath in every room, is also managed by Ryokan Tanigawa.

In 1952, the father of Mr. Tomio Kubo, the current chairman of Ryokan Tanigawa, purchased Tanigawakan, the predecessor of Ryokan Tanigawa, and started the ryokan business.
Then, in 1968, Mr. Tomio assumed the position of president.
At that time, "Tanigawakan" was a small two-story wooden ryokan with 16 rooms.
Later, in 1981, Mr. Tomio built a new building (3F reinforced concrete, 18 rooms), which he had longed for.
This year he considers as the year of its foundation.
In 1987, the former "Tanigawakan" was demolished, and the following year, 1988, a five-story addition was added, including a large bathhouse with open-air bath, expanding and renewing the building to 35 rooms.
The name of the inn was changed to "Ryokan Tanigawa" at this time.
The site of the former "Tanigawakan" is now the parking lot of Ryokan Tanigawa.
In 1997, he opened the luxury ryokan "Bettei Senjuan" and has been maintaining an amazing operation rate.
Since that time, his son, Mr. Hidehiro (now president), has also been involved in the management of the inn.
"Ryokan Tanigawa" has been renovated little by little since around 2007.
In 2018, Mr. Hidehiro became president. Mr. Tomio will become chairman.
From 2019 to 2024, the guest rooms will be actively renovated.
Some of the guest rooms have been enlarged and the number of rooms has been increased to 28 (as of May 2024).
In addition, the Dining and Lobby areas were also renovated.

The secret of Ryokan Tanigawa's popularity lies in its attentive service and ideas.
For example, in the open-air bath, if you order before 9 p.m., local sake and ice cream are delivered to the bath in a masu box, there is a sock washing service, a corner for hands-on plate making, mushroom soup served in the lobby before breakfast, and many other services.
In the lounge, there is a water-brewed coffee dripper that is still in use. Coffee made with this is very tasty.

It is also rare to find a place that, for this room rate, provides a separate yukata for sleeping in a general guest room as well as in a luxury ryokan.
The inn has secured a large number of customers through various ideas, and as a result, it seems that it is less dependent on travel agencies and has many customers who make reservations directly.
The nostalgic atmosphere inside the inn gives the impression of a homey atmosphere, similar to a family-run inn.
The inn has a certain level of distance from its guests, which is not a tailor-made approach, but rather a concern and hospitality.
That is why it has grown into a successful ryokan with a large number of repeat guests.
