Less than 10 km away from the inn is the city center of Otaru.

And you can see many tourists on the streets lined with stores, cafes, and souvenir shops where you can enjoy sweets.
Otaru is known for its canal cruises. It is definitely worth experiencing at least once to take a slow boat ride around the Otaru Canal where you can feel the history.

"Kamaei” is a long-established kamaboko(fish cake) store, where you can buy freshly made kamaboko because they produce them on site. How about trying something other than sweets?

"Otaru Jingisukan Club Kitatogarashi" is a famous Jingisukan(mutton barbecue) specialty restaurant with several branches in Tokyo. The fresh and unctuous Jingisukan is addictive. The Denuki Koji branch has a retro look and feel to it.

Otaru is also famous for sushi. Of course, you can get fresh seafood at Otaru Kourakuen, but if you really want sushi, we recommend "Fuji Sushi".
You can enjoy fresh seafood, especially high-end ingredients, at a relatively reasonable price. The shako mussels and grilled sea urchin are only available in Otaru, which is located close to the sea.
Let us introduce some of Otaru's B-class cuisine. "Ankake Yakisoba" is available at more than a dozen restaurants in Otaru City alone, and has become the soul food of Otaru locals. The noodles are covered with hot thick ankake paste and it is a very filling dish.

Mt. Tengu (Tenguyama) is one of the symbols of Otaru. Mt. Tengu, which rises 532.4 m above sea level, can be reached by a ropeway, and the night view from the top of the mountain is one of the “Three Great Night Views of Hokkaido".
