OTARU KOURAKUEN -Private & Open-air Bath Reports(2)-
There are 28 guest room open-air baths out of a total of 35 guest rooms. The ratio of guest room open-air baths in this inn is amazing.
Moreover, most of them are spacious enough for two adults to bathe together.
All of them have an open structure, and above all, it is easy to go directly to the open-air baths from the guest rooms.
Like the "Kokage-no-Ideyu" private bath, these baths, with the exception of a few guest rooms, face a beautiful lush garden where you can enjoy the scenery in each of the four seasons.
Especially in winter, the illuminated scenery while viewing the snow also creates a romantic atmosphere.
It is said that these guest rooms with open-air baths have made many repeat guests of Otaru Kourakuen, which is understandable.
It seems that the guest room open-air baths are now synonymous with the inn's popularity.
First, the top grade are the special rooms "Kiri" and "Tamo".
The guest room open-air baths are located on the second floor, on an open terrace with chairs and tables.
Bathing in the open-air baths under the clear Hokkaido sky during the day and under the star-filled sky at night is a luxury in itself.

The second grade are the "Hamanasu" and "Tsukimisou", two guest rooms with a second room.
The open-air bath in the "Hamanasu" room overlooked the inn's prized Japanese garden, and chairs and tables were provided on the neighboring open terrace.

The third grade is a maisonette type room, with a total of eight rooms: "Ume", "Matsu", "Hinoki", "Hiba", "Aoi", "Akashiya", "Sugi", and "Tsutsuji".
All rooms are located on the second floor. Basically, the lower room is the living room and bedroom space, and the upper floor is accessed via stairs to the guest room open-air bath space.

For more than 30 years, he has been visiting hot spring ryokans all over Japan, persuading innkeepers of the need for "private baths". This was my fifth time staying at this inn and the last time was a year and a half, still the same warm hospitality and relaxed family time. The food was very satisfying. The bath was wonderful and we would like to come back again on another visit.
